Enemy attack on Kyiv: casualties and damage reported
28 June 09:19
On the night of Sunday, June 28, Russia attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles. The Ukrainian Air Force warned on its Telegram channel twice—around 2:00 a.m. and around 2:30 a.m. local time—that “ballistic missiles” were heading toward the Ukrainian capital. An air raid alert was declared in the city, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Several explosions were heard in the capital. At 2:47 a.m., Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, reported that one person was injured as a result of the attack in the Darnytskyi district. Fires broke out in the same district.
“There’s a fire near a residential building; at another address, a car repair shop is on fire. A non-residential building is also on fire. We’re verifying information about the casualties,” Tkachenko wrote on Telegram.
At 03:11, the air raid alert was lifted in Kyiv; three minutes later, the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that the threat of ballistic missile use had been averted. At 5:10 a.m., an air raid alert was declared again in Kyiv; six minutes later, it was lifted. At 5:26 a.m., Tkachenko clarified that the number of casualties from the nighttime attack had risen to two.
Attacks on Other Cities and Regions of Ukraine
That same night, the Ukrainian Air Force recorded numerous launches of drones, missiles, and guided aerial bombs (GABs) toward Kharkiv, Dnipro, and the Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, as well as other cities and regions of Ukraine. Air raid alerts were issued. It is not yet known whether there has been any damage, casualties, or injuries.
