Nine more Russian tankers were hit overnight: SBS commander reveals details

The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Unit announced a new successful strike against the Russian “shadow fleet” in the Sea of Azov. On the night of July 8, Ukrainian drone operators struck nine more tankers, bringing the total number of vessels damaged over the past 72 hours to 21. This was reported by Robert Brovdi, commander of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

Nine more tankers were attacked overnight

According to Robert Brovdi, Ukrainian drones continued a series of strikes against Russian vessels in the Sea of Azov.

“UAS ‘Birds’ struck nine tankers of the Russian Federation’s shadow fleet overnight on July 8 in the Sea of Azov,” the commander said.

Thus, over the past three days, Ukrainian forces report having struck:

  • 19 tankers of the Russian Federation’s shadow fleet;
  • 1 dry cargo ship;
  • 1 ferry in the Kerch area.

Military facilities were also targeted

In addition to ships, Ukrainian drones attacked military infrastructure in the temporarily occupied territories last night.

According to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU):

  • 53 military targets were struck in Crimea and in the south of the occupied territory;
  • six more power substations were attacked.

In total, from July 1 to July 8, according to the command, Ukrainian drones have already struck 50 power facilities.

The operation is ongoing

The day before, the Unmanned Systems Forces had already reported striking eight tankers, one dry cargo ship, and one ferry.

The latest attack is part of a large-scale campaign to destroy Russia’s logistics and fuel infrastructure in the Sea of Azov and the temporarily occupied Crimea.
