Nighttime Attack on Kyiv: State Emergency Service Shows the Aftermath of the Russian Strike

On the night of July 8, Russian troops carried out yet another missile attack on Kyiv. As a result of the shelling, large-scale fires broke out in the Svyatoshyn and Desniansky districts of the capital, and administrative buildings, warehouses, a garage cooperative, and city trams were damaged. This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

What is known about the consequences of the attack

The Svyatoshynsky district of the capital suffered the most damage.

According to the State Emergency Service, as a result of the missile strike:

  • an administrative building caught fire;
  • a large-scale fire broke out in the warehouse area;
  • another administrative building was damaged;
  • city trams were damaged.

Rescue workers were on the scene extinguishing fires and clearing debris.

According to preliminary reports, two people were injured in the Svyatoshynsky district.

Medical personnel hospitalized one of the victims to provide necessary care. Information regarding the condition of the victims is being clarified.

At another location in the Svyatoshynsky district, a garage cooperative caught fire following the attack.

Rescue workers managed to quickly contain and extinguish the fire, preventing it from spreading to neighboring buildings.

A fire also broke out in the Desnianskyi district

The consequences of the Russian attack were also reported in Kyiv’s Desnianskyi district.

There, storage facilities caught fire following a missile strike. Firefighters quickly arrived on the scene and began extinguishing the fire.

As of this morning, the fires at most locations had been contained.

Emergency services are working at the sites

The State Emergency Service reported that emergency rescue operations are ongoing at all strike sites.

The following are involved in the cleanup efforts:

  • rescue workers;
  • medical personnel;
  • police officers;
  • the capital’s municipal services.

Information regarding the number of casualties and the extent of the damage is still being verified.

Kyiv remains under threat of missile attacks

In recent days, Russian forces have significantly intensified their combined strikes on Ukrainian cities, using ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and attack drones.

Ukrainians are urged not to ignore air raid sirens and to remain in shelters until an official all-clear is announced.
