Zelenskyy: Ukrainian Armed Forces hold back 64 thousand Russians in Kursk region

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russia has concentrated 64,000 of its soldiers in the Kursk region. The head of state said this during a briefing, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“This is a very serious grouping that could spread and attack us from other directions along the entire front line,” Zelensky said.

He praised the Ukrainian military for holding back the Russians and reiterated that there is no encirclement in this area.

“We are on the territory of the Kursk region, and not only on the territory of the Kursk region, by the way,” the head of state said, without providing details.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on April 4 that Ukrainian defenders repelled seven Russian attacks in the Kursk region. In this area, Russian troops conducted three air strikes, dropping five guided bombs and firing 211 artillery rounds. As of 16:00, fighting continued in two locations.

The day before, on April 3, the president visited the command posts of the 36th separate marine brigade and the 82nd separate air assault brigade in Sumy region and awarded Ukrainian soldiers.
