Attack on Moscow: How drones hit residential areas

on March 14, Moscow and the Moscow region suffered another attack by Ukrainian drones. The strike occurred in the morning, around 7:00 a.m. local time, and caused damage to several residential buildings. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Russian media.
What happened: a timeline of the March 14 drone attack
According to Russian media reports and telegram channels, Ukrainian drones attacked the Russian capital and surrounding areas in the early morning hours of March 14.



According to the Mash and Astra telegram channels, one of the drones hit the Avangard multi-storey residential complex in the Dorogomilovo district on Rezervny Proezd.

The strike damaged the roof of the building and the porch canopy, but there were no casualties among the residents.

Another incident occurred on Lesteva Street in Moscow, where the wreckage of a downed drone fell on a residential building, causing the roof to catch fire, Astra reports. No one was injured, Baza reports.


In Troitsk, near the Rosinter-2 cottage community, a downed drone fell on a private house, damaging it, as well as three cars and an ATV, Mash and VCHK-OGPU report.

In the Moscow region, in the village of Bitza, a drone hit the South Bitza residential complex, which is not yet inhabited, Mash notes.
Residents of Balashikha reported a loud explosion, and in one of the yards they found an object similar to a drone fragment, which was captured on video.
Authorities’ reaction and consequences
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on his telegram channel that air defense had successfully repelled an attack by four drones heading for the capital.
“Emergency services are working at the sites where the wreckage fell,” he added.
Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said that three drones were shot down in the region:
- Two over Balashikha: the wreckage of one fell on a construction site in the Izmailovo neighborhood, the other in the Zaliznychny neighborhood.
- The third was in the Yuzhnaya Bytza neighborhood of Leninsky district, where the wreckage damaged a high-rise building under construction.
According to Vorobyov, there were no casualties or serious damage.
Rosaviatsiya temporarily restricted the operation of Vnukovo airport in Moscow and the airport in Kaluga at night, but the restrictions were lifted in the morning of March 14.
Second attack in a week: what is known about the previous strike
This is the second attack by Ukrainian drones on Moscow and the Moscow region in the last week. On the night of March 11, 2025, the Armed Forces of Ukraine carried out the most massive drone strike on Russian territory since the beginning of the full-scale war.
More than 340 drones were involved, attacking, among other things, Moscow and the Moscow region. The strike damaged residential buildings.
