Strike on an arms exhibition in the Kyiv region: Former head of the “Alpha” center, Sirenko, killed

Eduard Sirenko, the former head of the “Alpha” Center, was killed in a Russian missile strike on the Kyiv region on July 24. This was reported on social media by a number of public figures, including close acquaintances of the former special forces operative, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Eduard Sirenko headed the SBU’s “Alpha” Center for Special Operations and Counterterrorism. According to the Ukrainian Veterans’ Union, he was part of a group of special forces operatives who provided security for the Ukrainian Embassy in Iraq in 2018.
“Today, at that damn training ground, a close friend was killed. My condolences to his family. Edik was a wonderful person,” wrote Serhiy Bondarchuk, a former colleague and friend of Sirenko.
“We’re going to miss you so much, Bro. Rest in Peace,” noted race car driver and TV host Oleksiy Mochanov.
“Colonel Eduard Sirenko was killed at this damned training ground. Those who knew him, please remember him,” wrote journalist Stanislav Rechynskyi on social media.
Meanwhile, the Main Intelligence Directorate reported that the Russian attack also claimed the life of Valentina Savitskaya, deputy head of the Center for International Cooperation and Strategic Communications at the State Security Service of Ukraine. The Main Intelligence Directorate noted that this is a bitter and irreparable loss.
As a reminder, Russian forces launched a massive strike on a military training ground in the Kyiv region, where a demonstration of defense developments and weapons was taking place at the time. The attack resulted in casualties and destruction. Valery Borovik, founder of First Contact, reported the strike, noting that the shelling was targeted.
Ukrainian Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko reported that 10 people were killed as a result of the Russian strike on the training ground in the Kyiv region, and another 100 people were injured to varying degrees.
In addition, the Office of the Prosecutor General has opened a criminal investigation under Part 3 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding possible dereliction of duty during the organization and conduct of the event, which led to the loss of life and other serious consequences
