Why Fuel Prices Have Skyrocketed
The main reason for the latest price spike was a sharp rise in global oil prices.
Due to the escalation of the conflict between the U.S. and Iran, attacks on tankers in the Red Sea, and risks to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, the price of Brent crude exceeded $96 per barrel. This prompted Ukrainian gas station operators to adjust their retail prices.
In addition, the Ukrainian market is affected by:
- rising wholesale fuel prices;
- rising logistics costs;
- rising costs of marine insurance;
- currency exchange rate fluctuations.
What are the average fuel prices in Ukraine?
According to the “A-95” Consulting Group, following the latest adjustment, average retail prices are as follows:
- A-95 gasoline – about 79.84 UAH/liter;
- diesel fuel – about 83 UAH/liter;
- automotive gas remains on average around 40 UAH/liter and has not risen in price so far.
