MP Maksym Buzhansky believes that Ukraine should currently focus on preserving its territory and ending the war as quickly as possible on favorable terms. He made this statement in an interview with the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian".
“It seems to me that it is already clear to everyone that we cannot dream of restoring the 1991 borders during this war. The issue now is not to lose any more territory and to end the war as quickly as possible,” he noted.

According to the lawmaker, public statements about the need to achieve more at any cost are often political speculation, especially when made by people far from the combat zone. Instead, he identifies achieving peace on the most favorable terms for Ukraine as the key objective.
At the same time, Buzhansky emphasized that Ukraine is not giving up its territories, even if their return seems unlikely at the moment.
“We are not giving up a single piece of our territory. Yes, we don’t have the strength to reclaim everything right now, but who knows what the future holds. Our task is to wait for the right moment and be ready to seize the opportunity,” he stressed.
As a historical example, the deputy cited the situation with the western Ukrainian lands in the 20th century, when their return took place decades later.
“No one knew that this would happen, but when the moment came, they seized it. We, too, need to be ready to reclaim the occupied territories in the future,” added Buzhansky.
