Dozens of settlements without electricity: Russian Federation attacks power facilities in Chernihiv region

16 November 12:19

Russian Geranium kamikaze drones attacked a power facility in Nizhyn on Saturday, November 15, leading to large-scale power outages.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Chernihiv Regional State Administration.

It is currently known that the enemy strike left settlements in Nizhyn and Pryluky districts without electricity. Power engineers are already working on the spot, and restoration work is ongoing.

At the same time, according to the Nizhyn City Council, water supply in the city is currently on schedule. In particular, in the event of a power outage, on November 16, water supply in Nizhyn will be carried out according to the following schedule

  • from 06:00 to 09:00
  • from 17:00 to 20:00.

In addition, the shelling of Nizhyn damaged the transportation infrastructure.

Semenivka came under enemy fire again, where a drone damaged an administrative building.

In Novhorod-Siverskyi district, in Koropske, a non-residential building caught fire after a drone hit, and windows were smashed in a house of culture.

In total, over the past day, Russian troops struck Chernihiv region 26 times, and 42 explosions were recorded.

Blackouts in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the fall, Russia has significantly intensified its attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. Due to the critical situation in the power system caused by these attacks, hourly blackouts were introduced in the country.

After a massive strike on the night of November 8, the blackout schedules became even more stringent. Russian troops attacked with drones and Kinzhal and Kalibr missiles.

According to Centrenergo, the attack was the largest since the beginning of the full-scale war. As a result of the attack, Zmiivska and Trypilska TPPs completely stopped producing electricity.

Today, on November 16, due to massive attacks by Russian troops on the energy infrastructure, electricity supply restrictions have been imposed in a number of regions of Ukraine.
