Drones Attacked Two Oil Refineries in Russia at Once: What Are the Consequences?
8 August 08:52
Drones attacked the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation and the Samara Oblast on the night of August 8. As a result, large-scale fires broke out at two oil refineries. RBC-Ukraine reported this, citing OSINT sources, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Specifically, the attacks targeted the Ilsky Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Krai and the Syzran Oil Refinery.
The Syzran Oil Refinery
Initially, public sources reported that the oil refinery in Syzran had been “set on fire.”
“Local residents reported an attack in the area of the AVT facility and oil storage tanks,” one Telegram channel reported.
It should be noted that local authorities confirmed the attack, as announced by Governor Vyacheslav Fedoryshchev.
“Dear residents of the Samara Region. One of the industrial facilities in the Samara Region was attacked by enemy drones last night. Cleanup efforts are currently underway. Emergency services are working at the site where the drones crashed. Information regarding casualties is being verified,” the official wrote on Telegram.
Footage from the site of the attack has been shared on social media—a red glow and thick black smoke engulfed the oil refinery.
Ilsky Oil Refinery
The Ilsky Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Krai was also damaged as a result of the drone attack. The region’s emergency response headquarters confirmed the incident. According to official reports, debris fell on the refinery’s grounds.
As for the footage, it clearly shows a fire that Russian rescue workers are reportedly still trying to extinguish.
Drone Attacks on Occupiers’ Oil Refineries
As is well known, the Russians are occasionally targeted by drone attacks, most of which are aimed at the energy sector—oil refineries and gas-related facilities.
There can be no question of Russia exporting oil—on the contrary, the aggressor is forced to purchase it from abroad, for example, from Belarus, a country friendly to Russia.
Meanwhile, there is a fuel shortage at Russian gas stations, and even when gasoline is sold, it is at inflated prices. Meanwhile, Ukrainian drones recently struck the Yaroslavl oil refinery.
