Russia has launched its most massive attack on “Ukrnafta”: production has been halted at seven facilities

On the night of August 6–7, Russian forces carried out one of the most powerful strikes on Ukraine’s oil and gas infrastructure in recent times. Seven production facilities belonging to PJSC “Ukrnafta”—a member of the “Naftogaz” Group that handles oil and natural gas production in eastern Ukraine—were simultaneously targeted in the massive shelling.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing the Naftogaz Group.
Russia attacked seven production facilities
According to the company, critically important processing equipment was damaged as a result of the nighttime attack.
As a result:
- a number of production facilities have been shut down;
- significant volumes of oil and natural gas production were lost;
- an assessment of the extent of the damage is ongoing.
The company emphasized that, despite the extensive damage, none of its employees were injured.
Naftogaz reported systematic attacks by Russia
Serhiy Fedorenko, acting chairman of the board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, called the overnight shelling the most massive attack on Ukrnafta’s production assets in recent times.
“Russia is systematically attacking Ukrainian oil and gas production to inflict maximum damage on our infrastructure ahead of winter. Last night saw the most intense shelling of Ukrnafta facilities in recent times. Fortunately, there were no casualties,” he noted.
Gas stations were also targeted
In addition to the oil fields, over the past 24 hours, the Russian army attacked four more UKRNAFTA gas stations in the Zaporizhzhia and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
The company reported that:
- no staff or customers at the gas stations were injured;
- an assessment of the damage is underway;
- measures are being taken to restore operations.
Russia is intensifying attacks on energy infrastructure
Naftogaz notes that in recent months, Russian troops have significantly intensified their attacks on enterprises in Ukraine’s fuel and energy sector.
According to the company, since the beginning of 2026 alone , Russian strikes have damaged 37 Naftogaz Group gas stations. Some of them sustained critical damage and are no longer operational.
The latest massive strike on Ukrnafta’s production assets is further evidence that the aggressor nation is attempting to weaken Ukraine’s energy system ahead of the heating season, by targeting production, logistics, and fuel infrastructure.
