Tigran Amalyan devoted about five years to cardiac surgery, working at the Amosov Institute of Cardiovascular Surgery. However, he decided to leave the operating room and focus on the development of medical technologies. In an interview with the "Komersant Ukrainian" YouTube channel, Amalyan explained why he made this choice and how this decision is helping to save more lives.
Amalyan explained that even while working as a cardiac surgeon, he constantly faced the problem of a shortage of modern equipment and materials. It was then that he began to realize that the development of medical technology could save far more lives than his personal involvement in each individual surgery.
“The decision to leave surgery was not an easy one. After all, the medical profession required many years of training, enormous responsibility, and had become an integral part of my life,” he recalls.
Today, the company Amalyan founded supplies equipment to virtually every operating room in Ukraine and participates in the creation of Ukrainian medical innovations.
He is convinced that Ukrainian medicine should not only rely on foreign technologies but also create its own products capable of competing on the global market.
“It is innovation that allows us to transform the healthcare system, improve the quality of treatment, and save more lives,” he emphasizes.
