Ford is urgently recalling hundreds of thousands of vehicles in the U.S.: here’s why

Ford has announced a recall of 548,463 vehicles in the United States due to an issue with the center console in certain models.

This was reported by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to Reuters , as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to the publication, the problem lies in the chrome plating on the center console, which can bubble and peel over time. This can lead to the formation of sharp edges that pose a danger to passengers.

“Passengers who come into contact with these edges are at an increased risk of injury,” the regulatory agency noted.

Which car models are affected?

The recall applies to certain Ford Expedition vehicles manufactured between 2018 and 2024. According to the NHTSA, the problem may have arisen due to the chrome trim on the center console, which was manufactured with parameters that did not meet Ford’s specifications.

“Ford dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the center consoles free of charge. This is standard procedure in such cases, which helps ensure passenger safety and maintain trust in the brand,” the publication writes.

Despite this situation, Ford continues to grow and plans to launch seven new models in Europe by 2029. This is part of the company’s strategy to boost passenger car sales amid fierce competition with Chinese manufacturers and maintain its lead in the European commercial vehicle market.
