The Kyiv Metro has no plans to carry out major repairs or renovations on its stations by the end of the year

The Kyiv Metro municipal enterprise has no plans to carry out major repairs or renovations of stations by the end of 2026. The enterprise reported this in a response to an official inquiry from "Komersant Ukrainian".
“No major repairs or reconstructions of stations are planned by the end of 2026,” the Kyiv Metro Municipal Enterprise stated in its response.
At the same time, the company reported that work is continuing on the construction of the Syretsko-Pecherska Metro Line section from the “Syrets” station to the Vynohradar residential area, including the electric depot in the Podilskyi district.
The first phase of construction includes the section from the “Syrets” station to the “Prospekt Pravdy” station, featuring two stations: “Mostytska” and “Prospekt Pravdy.” The project also includes a spur line branching off toward the “Vynohradar” station.
According to the metro authority, construction work is being carried out under challenging hydrogeological conditions, in an area with an extensive network of utility lines laid at various depths, and amid dense urban development.
The new “Mostytska” and “Varshavska” (“Prospekt Pravdy”) stations are scheduled to be put into operation upon completion of construction work. The work is being carried out in accordance with the contract between the Kyiv Metro Municipal Enterprise and Autostrada Group LLC.
However, the response does not specify a specific completion date. Metro officials explained that it depends on the availability of budget funding and the ability to carry out work under martial law while complying with curfew requirements.
As a reminder, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) approved a loan of up to EUR 150 million for the modernization of the Kyiv Metro.
On June 19, 2026, the Kyiv City Council approved a loan from the EBRD of up to 150 million euros for the purchase of subway cars.
