Train tickets for dates after August 27 are no longer available for purchase: Ukrzaliznytsia explains what passengers should do

Ukrzaliznytsia passengers cannot purchase tickets for some trains for dates starting August 27. The company explained that this does not mean all such trips have been canceled: ticket sales have been temporarily restricted due to the need to reorganize routes and schedules following Russian attacks on the railway infrastructure.

Why There Are No Train Tickets Available Starting August 27
The lack of tickets for certain dates and routes is not solely due to traditionally high summer demand.
Ukrzaliznytsia explained that following the Russian attacks, the company has had to adjust routes and schedules.
The strikes damaged or destroyed locomotives, railcars, and railway infrastructure. In addition, railway workers were killed as a result of the attacks.
“Due to the recent Russian attacks, which resulted in the deaths of our railway workers and the damage and destruction of locomotives, railcars, and railway infrastructure, we are currently rapidly reorganizing our logistics and schedules. That is why ticket sales for certain dates and routes have been suspended as of August 27,” Ukrzaliznytsia explained.
Therefore, before ticket sales reopen, the carrier must finalize which trains can operate and on which routes they will run.
This is precisely why ticket sales for some trains and dates, starting August 27, are currently unavailable.

The company clarified that ticket sales will resume once railway officials have finalized the feasibility of operating specific trains and identified the necessary technical solutions.
However, UZ is not yet able to provide an exact date for when tickets will become available.
“As soon as we have confirmed the feasibility of operating a train and implemented all necessary technical solutions, we will open ticket sales. We cannot honestly say exactly when that will happen,” the company stated.
Russian attacks are forcing Ukrzaliznytsia to change routes
The railway infrastructure continues to come under Russian attack, forcing the carrier to quickly adjust its schedules.
In particular, Ukrzaliznytsia previously reported route adjustments due to infrastructure damage and the security situation in the Dnipropetrovsk region.
On some routes, train delays exceeded 10 hours, and some trains were temporarily unable to reach their usual final destinations.
To enable passengers to continue their journeys, railway officials organized bus and commuter transfers.
Thus, the current lack of tickets for some trains after August 27 is primarily due to the reorganization of rail logistics following the attacks, rather than a complete suspension of passenger service.
What Passengers Should Do
Ukrzaliznytsia advises passengers planning trips after August 27 to use the “notify me when tickets go on sale” feature in the official app.
“Please set up a notification for when tickets go on sale in the Ukrzaliznytsia app; it will notify you the moment tickets become available,” the company urged.
This way, passengers won’t have to constantly check for seat availability manually: once the relevant notification is activated, the app will notify them when tickets go on sale.
At the same time, Ukrzaliznytsia asked passengers to be understanding of the situation, as following the latest Russian attacks, railway workers have had to quickly restore and reorganize the network’s operations.
“Right now, a huge number of railway workers are doing everything possible to ensure that, following the latest enemy strikes, train service does not stop and passengers can continue their journeys,” Ukrzaliznytsia emphasized.
