The legendary social network MySpace is preparing for a relaunch

American entrepreneurs Tim and Chris Vanderhoek, who own the social network MySpace, have announced plans to relaunch the platform. This was reported by CNBC, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

“We still own MySpace. We’re keeping the brand and want to relaunch it. We’re just waiting for the right moment,” the entrepreneurs said.

The Vanderhoek brothers noted that past attempts to modernize the platform were unsuccessful. In total, they lost more than $150 million.

As CNBC notes, the revamped MySpace may attempt to “capitalize on nostalgia and the rejection of traditional social networks.” Forrester analyst Kate Vinik also believes that this idea “reflects nostalgia for the analog era, when algorithms were less dominant in our lives.”

MySpace was launched in 2003 by American tech investors Tom Anderson and Chris DeWolfe. At the height of its popularity, in April 2008, the social network had 115 million monthly visitors. However, it was gradually overtaken by competitors. The Vanderhoek brothers bought MySpace in 2011. Currently, the social network’s monthly audience stands at about 6 million people.
