On Sunday, August 9, Russian troops launched another massive strike against facilities belonging to the Naftogaz Group in various regions of Ukraine. On Saturday night, dozens of attack drones struck a drilling site belonging to Ukrnafta, as well as another drilling site, according to company representatives, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

As a result of the strikes, some equipment was put out of commission, the facilities sustained significant damage, and operations at one of the production assets were halted. According to Naftogaz, employees at the attacked facilities were not harmed thanks to safety measures.

Attacks on Gas Stations and Production Facilities

Russian strikes on Naftogaz’s infrastructure continued for several days in a row. On August 7 and 8, seven gas stations belonging to the UKRNAFTA network in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Mykolaiv regions came under drone attack. One gas station employee was injured in one of the strikes. He is in the hospital and receiving the necessary medical care.

On August 8, Russian forces also attacked Naftogaz production facilities in central Ukraine with rocket-powered drones. At the time of the strike, employees were taking cover. The facility itself sustained serious damage.

“The goal is to cause as much damage as possible to Ukrainian production”

Serhiy Fedorenko, acting chairman of Naftogaz’s board, stated that the intensity of Russian attacks on oil and gas infrastructure has increased significantly in recent days.

“It is clear that the enemy’s goal is to inflict maximum damage on Ukrainian production and other critical infrastructure in order to prevent preparations for the heating season,” Fedorenko said, emphasizing that the company’s priority remains the safety of its employees and continuing operations despite the Russian attacks.

Russia regularly attacks Naftogaz’s infrastructure

Attacks on Naftogaz Group facilities have continued throughout the year. According to Naftogaz, 37 of the group’s gas stations have been destroyed as a result of Russian attacks since the beginning of 2026. Some of them have been restored and returned to operation, but Russian forces continue to launch repeated strikes against the company’s infrastructure.
