The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Office of the Prosecutor General have served a notice of suspicion in absentia to Yulia Mendel, who is engaged in information and subversive activities against Ukraine, according to a statement from the SBU, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
The charges were brought under the following articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 2 of Article 111 (treason committed under martial law);
- Parts 2 and 3 of Article 436-2 (justifying, recognizing as lawful, or denying the Russian Federation’s armed aggression against Ukraine, and glorifying its participants).
It has been established that in her public statements and social media posts, Mendel discredits Ukraine on the international stage and justifies the Kremlin regime and the full-scale war it launched against Ukraine.
“Since the suspect is outside the country, comprehensive measures are underway to bring her to justice,” the statement reads.
The investigation is being conducted by investigators from the SBU’s Main Investigative Directorate under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General.
As a reminder, in May 2026, Yulia Mendel found herself at the center of a high-profile scandal following a series of sensational statements about her work with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
In one interview, the former spokesperson for the head of state revealed a number of shocking details about him, calling Zelenskyy “a hidden evil.” At the same time, she provided no evidence to support her claims.
In addition, Mendel sparked outrage with her claim that during negotiations in 2022, Ukraine was allegedly ready to cede the Donbas.
