Customs has released statistics that could save businesses money

The State Customs Service of Ukraine has expanded its list of digital services for businesses by launching a new service called “Analysis of the Customs Value of Goods.” This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing the State Customs Service of Ukraine.

State Customs Service Launches New Service for Analyzing Customs Value

The new “Analysis of the Customs Value of Goods” service is now available in the Personal Account section of the State Customs Service of Ukraine’s portal.

Using this service, users can access statistical information on the customs value of goods that have already undergone customs clearance in Ukraine, as well as analyze this data in the form of a visual histogram showing its distribution.

What Opportunities Are Available to Businesses

The service allows users to set a number of parameters to generate a sample.

To generate a sample, the user can specify:

the commodity code according to the Ukrainian Classification of Goods for Foreign Economic Activity (UKT ZED);
the customs clearance period;
the country of origin of the goods;
the customs clearance status;
unit of measurement for value (per kilogram or per additional unit of measurement—if applicable for the relevant product);
excerpt from the product description.

In addition, the system displays separate information depending on the method used to determine the customs value. This makes it possible to assess the specifics of how the value of similar goods, which have already been cleared by Ukrainian customs, was calculated.

Why Is the New Service Needed?

The State Customs Service notes that the new digital tool will help businesses estimate the range of customs values for similar goods even before filing a customs declaration.

Companies can use the data obtained when preparing documents for customs clearance and forecasting the possible outcomes of customs inspections.

In effect, the service is intended to serve as an additional analytical tool for importers and exporters.

What benefits will businesses receive?

According to the State Customs Service, using the new service will contribute to:

increased transparency of customs procedures;
better preparation of documents;
greater predictability of customs inspection results;
a reduction in the number of disputes regarding the determination of the customs value of goods.

The new tool is expected to help reduce the number of additional inspections and speed up the customs clearance process for compliant businesses.

The agency emphasizes that the development of digital services remains one of the key areas of focus for the customs service.

The introduction of new analytical tools is intended to ensure:

transparency in customs processes;
more convenient access to statistical data for businesses;

the digitization of customs procedures in accordance with modern standards.

The State Customs Service notes that it plans to further expand digital services for participants in foreign economic activity.
