Fares in Kyiv Are Set to Rise Sharply Starting July 15: How Much Will the Metro, Bus, and Tram Cost?

11 July 07:25

Starting July 15, 2026, new fares for municipal public transportation will take effect in the capital. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing an order from Mayor Vitali Klitschko.

Fares in Kyiv will increase nearly fourfold

The new fares will take effect on July 15. Single-ride tickets will see the biggest price increase—their cost will rise from 8 to 30 hryvnias, which is nearly four times the current fare.

At the same time, city authorities are maintaining the discount system for passengers who use transit cards and purchase travel packages.

What will the fares be?

Depending on the number of trips purchased, the following fares will apply:

  • 1–9 trips — 30.00 UAH;
  • 10–19 trips — 28.90 UAH;
  • 20–29 trips — 27.80 UAH;
  • 30–39 trips — 26.60 UAH;
  • 40–49 trips — 25.50 UAH;
  • 50 trips — 25.00 UAH.

Thus, passengers who regularly use public transportation will save the most.

New passes and a 90-minute ticket will be introduced

In addition to the new fares, new transit products will be introduced in the capital.

Monthly passes will bring the average cost per trip to 23.3–23.6 hryvnia.

Also, starting August 1, a 90-minute ticket costing 60 hryvnias is scheduled to be launched, which will allow for an unlimited number of transfers between all types of public transportation for one and a half hours.

What will happen to the old 8-hryvnia tickets?

The Kyiv City State Administration explained that all trips purchased on or before July 14 at the old fare will remain valid until September 14, 2026.

After that date, unused trips will automatically be converted into a cash balance on the transit card.

Most Kyiv residents opposed the fare increase

According to city officials, during the public consultation, 96% of participants opposed the fare increase. In addition, residents of the capital submitted over 300 proposals regarding the new fare policy.

Despite this, the decision to revise the fare was approved.
