The largest landfill in Transcarpathia is on fire near Uzhhorod. Firefighters have been battling the blaze for two days now. Details of the emergency were reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian Oblast on April 27, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

“Information about the fire at the landfill in the village of Barvinok in the Uzhhorod district was received on the evening of April 26, after which units from Uzhhorod, Chop, and the village of Serednie arrived at the scene. After midnight, rescuers contained the fire over an area of 0.1 hectares,” the statement said.

Rescuers are also using drones to monitor the situation on site. Thirty-five people and 13 pieces of equipment, including heavy machinery from municipal utilities, are fighting the fire.

In addition, residents of nearby settlements are asked to keep their windows closed until the fire is completely extinguished.
