In the first five months of 2026, global giants in the digital market paid over 8.7 billion hryvnias in the so-called “Google tax” to the state budget. In foreign currency terms, non-residents who provide electronic services to Ukrainians and are registered as VAT payers transferred 80.4 million euros and 105.4 million U.S. dollars. This was reported on her Facebook page by Lesya Karnaukh, acting head of the State Tax Service, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

Compared to the same period last year, revenue has increased significantly:

+ 6.4 million euros;

+ $21.1 million.

“The largest taxpayers are Google, Apple, Valve, Meta, Sony, Etsy, and Netflix. The number of registered taxpayers also continues to grow. Since the beginning of 2026, 12 more non-resident companies that provide electronic services to individuals have become VAT payers in Ukraine,” she said.

In total, there are now 154 such taxpayers registered in Ukraine.

“The growth in revenue from the taxation of electronic services reflects the development of the digital economy and the increasing consumption of digital services by Ukrainians. This is an important source of revenue for the state budget, generated through the fair taxation of global online platforms operating in Ukraine,” added Lesya Karnaukh.

The law stipulates that foreign companies must register as VAT payers in Ukraine if, over the past 12 months, the volume of electronic services they have provided to Ukrainian consumers has exceeded the equivalent of 1 million hryvnias.
