“Naftogaz” reported significant losses due to Russian strikes on gas stations

Since the beginning of 2026, Russian troops have carried out 37 attacks on the Naftogaz Group’s gas stations, resulting in the complete destruction of some of the facilities.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing the Naftogaz Group’s press service.
Russia continues to deliberately target civilian gas stations
According to the company, in the first seven months of 2026 alone, Russian troops damaged:
- 32 gas stations in the “Ukrnafta” network;
- 5 facilities belonging to Ukrgazvydobuvannya.
In some cases, the enemy attacked certain gas stations repeatedly even after they had been repaired and returned to operation.
The company notes that some gas stations were quickly restored, but a number of facilities sustained critical damage and are currently not operational.
Total losses for the network since the start of the war
Naftogaz noted that since the start of Russian aggression in 2014, the state-owned “Ukrnafta” network has already lost 123 gas stations.
Of these:
- 67 gas stations remain in temporarily occupied territories;
- the rest have been completely destroyed or are not operating due to their proximity to the front lines.

Why Is Russia Attacking Gas Stations?
The Naftogaz Group emphasizes that gas stations are exclusively civilian infrastructure and have no military purpose.
Thousands of Ukrainians use them every day, as do:
- emergency services;
- rescue workers;
- utility companies;
- medical transport;
- residents of frontline communities.
The company emphasizes that the attacks on gas stations are primarily intended to intimidate the population, disrupt logistics, and create a fuel shortage for civilian infrastructure.
Despite the attacks, the network continues to operate
Despite constant Russian shelling, the Naftogaz Group’s gas station network continues to ensure an uninterrupted supply of fuel.
Particular attention is being paid to frontline regions, where the stable operation of gas stations is critical for the functioning of emergency services, medical personnel, military logistics, and the daily lives of communities.
It was previously reported that Russian strikes have already destroyed more than 200 gas stations across Ukraine, causing significant damage to the country’s fuel infrastructure.
