The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the UAE has announced the resumption of normal air traffic operations in the country’s airspace and the lifting of precautionary measures introduced following the start of the U.S. and Israeli military operation against Iran. According to Gulf News, the decision was made following a comprehensive assessment of the operational situation conducted in coordination with relevant agencies, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
Aviation authorities emphasized that real-time monitoring will continue to ensure the highest level of flight safety. The GCAA expressed gratitude to passengers and airlines for their cooperation and confirmed the readiness of technical and operational services to respond to any possible changes.
Restrictions on flights
Restrictions on flights were introduced on February 28 after the U.S. and Israel launched a military campaign against Iran. In response, Tehran began striking civilian targets in neighboring countries, including airports. During the conflict, drone attacks targeted, in particular, the international airports of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. After ceasefire agreements took effect on April 8, the UAE has not been subjected to further missile or drone attacks.
Airlines, meanwhile, are gradually resuming operations. Emirates has already restored its flights to 80% of pre-war levels, while Etihad is at approximately 75%, according to The National. Some international carriers that had suspended flights to the region are also resuming operations.
