Five dead: the man who opened fire in Kyiv has been killed

The man who carried out a deadly shooting in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv has been neutralized.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing UP and Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.

UP has obtained the man’s personal details. His name is Dmytro Vasylovych Vasylchenkov, and his date of birth is April 21, 1968.

He was born in Moscow and holds Ukrainian citizenship. He previously lived in Bakhmut, Donetsk Oblast, and later in the Holosiivskyi district of Kyiv.

Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko confirmed that the shooter in Kyiv was neutralized during his arrest.

“Special forces from the National Police’s KORD unit stormed the store where the attacker was located. He had taken people hostage and fired at police officers during the arrest. Prior to this, negotiators had attempted to make contact with him. The number of victims caused by the attacker is being determined. There are fatalities and injuries,” said Klymenko.

As a reminder, an unknown man opened fire on people in Kyiv. The man simply ran up to random passersby and shot them at point-blank range. Currently, five people are known to have been killed and ten wounded.
