Prices for last year’s cabbage have risen in Ukraine: what are the reasons?
18 April 10:12
According to analysts at EastFruit, Ukrainian farmers have begun gradually raising prices for last year’s white cabbage since the start of this week. Producers attribute this trend to a seasonal decline in supply of this product amid rising demand, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
Currently, the supply of white cabbage from the 2025 harvest on the market has significantly decreased, while demand for this product has picked up somewhat. Under these conditions, farms that still have sufficient vegetable stocks have begun to raise their selling prices.
As of today, last year’s white cabbage is selling on the Ukrainian market for 4–10 UAH/kg ($0.09–0.23/kg), which is on average 25% more expensive than at the end of last week.
At the same time , cabbage prices in Ukraine currently remain 85% lower than during the same period last year. Market participants do not rule out further price increases, as stocks of the 2025 harvest are rapidly dwindling on farms.
