Two trains—a diesel train and an Intercity+—collided in the Vinnytsia region

18 April 16:10

On Saturday afternoon, April 18, a diesel locomotive collided with an Intercity+ train carrying nearly 600 passengers in the Vinnytsia region. A replacement train is currently following behind them.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Ukrzaliznytsia’s Telegram channel.

“In the Vinnytsia region, at the Brailiv station, a side collision occurred between a diesel locomotive belonging to a private quarry and the ‘Intercity+’ passenger train running between Kyiv and Przemyśl,” the statement reads.

Fortunately, none of the 576 passengers on board or the railway workers were injured. They are currently being accommodated at the station, and a replacement train is already on its way to pick them up.

Ukrzaliznytsia noted that railway staff are gathering information from passengers regarding their planned connections and are already in contact with border authorities to ensure that all customs and border procedures “are carried out as quickly as possible and train delays are minimized.”

In addition, the company is coordinating with other railway operators to maintain connections as much as possible.

In conclusion, Ukrzaliznytsia added that the accident will be investigated.

“This incident will be thoroughly investigated. A Ukrzaliznytsia team has been dispatched to the scene to provide assistance and determine the circumstances of the incident,” the company concluded.
