While people were taking shelter: a looter who was stealing from apartments damaged by shelling was caught in Kyiv

Today, May 24, residential buildings in Khoriva Lane in Kyiv were damaged as a result of an overnight enemy missile strike, with the blast wave shattering windows and doors in the apartments. While residents were in shelters, a criminal took advantage of the situation and began breaking into the damaged homes, from which he stole the owners’ personal belongings. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Kyiv police.
One of the affected women contacted the police to report the theft of her property. Law enforcement officers quickly located the suspect and detained him directly in one of the apartments where he was attempting to commit another theft.
The perpetrator turned out to be a 29-year-old man who was already wanted for committing a property crime in another region. He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
The Investigative Department of the Podil Police Department has initiated criminal proceedings under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—theft. The penalty under this article provides for up to eight years of imprisonment. The investigation is ongoing.
