The State Audit Service of Ukraine, during an audit of the Kyiv Metro utility company, found violations and losses worth more than UAH 200 million, Komersant ukrainskyi
reports.
However, the capital’s enterprise decided to cancel the audit results in court.
After the State Audit Service won the court of appeal, Kyiv Metro filed a cassation appeal, considering the court’s findings unfounded.
At the end of December 2023, the Supreme Court of Ukraine upheld the Kyiv Metro’s appeal and cancelled the decision of the court of appeal.
The case is now being considered again by the Supreme Court. The State Audit Service says it will continue to prove in courts the correctness of the audit findings to compensate the state for the damage caused.
Kommersant Ukrayinsky
found out that Kyiv Metro is trying to challenge 7 out of 8 points of the claim.
In particular, it concerns the conclusion of loan agreements on the provision of interest-free assistance by Kyiv Metro to other municipal and commercial enterprises in the capital.
Also, during the final payments under contracts with CJSC Vagonmash (St. Petersburg, Russia) and OJSC Metrovagonmash (Mytishchi, Russia), 896 thousand euros or more than UAH 28 million were overpaid.
Kyiv Metro also transferred an extra UAH 16.6 million to the general contractor PJSC Kyivmetrobud during the construction of the metro section from Vystavkovyi Tsentr station to Odesa Square.
As a reminder, on 8 December 2023, an accident occurred at the overrun tunnel between Demiivska and Lybidska stations due to a depressurisation of the tunnel and cracks in the walls.
The case is now being investigated by the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office.
