Fire at the airfield from which Russia launches “Shaheds”: Ammunition is detonating in Crimea following the explosions

In the temporarily occupied Crimea, a series of explosions rocked the “Gvardeyskoye” military airfield on the night of August 6; according to monitoring sources, Russian troops use to launch Shahed strike drones into Ukrainian territory. A massive fire broke out at the facility following the explosions.
This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing the Telegram channel “Crimean Wind.”
What is known about the explosions at the Gvardeyskoye airfield
According to eyewitnesses, the explosions at the military airfield occurred in two waves— from approximately 3:30 a.m. to 3:39 a.m. and from 4:34 a.m. to 4:47 a.m.
Afterward, at least two large fires broke out on the airfield grounds.
According to local sources:
- a fuel and lubricants warehouse caught fire;
- prolonged detonations of ammunition were heard;
- the flames were visible from several kilometers away.

The Telegram channel “Crimean Wind” claims that the “Gvardeyskoye” airfield is being used by Russian troops to launch Shahed-type attack drones, which are regularly deployed during massive attacks on Ukrainian cities.
If reports of damage to the fuel infrastructure are confirmed, this could temporarily disrupt operations at the military facility.
At the same time, there is currently no independent confirmation of the extent of the damage.
Explosions were heard in several areas of occupied Crimea at once
In addition to the area around the “Gvardeyskoye” airfield, eyewitnesses also reported explosions:
- in Sevastopol;
- Feodosia;
- Kerch;
- near Alushta;
- near other military facilities on the peninsula.
The occupying authorities have not officially reported on the consequences of these events.
This is not the first strike on military facilities in Crimea
In recent months, there have been regular reports of explosions at military airfields, ammunition depots, and other Russian military facilities in the temporarily occupied Crimea.
Earlier, the Main Intelligence Directorate reported the destruction of a Russian S-400 “Triumph” anti-aircraft missile system, as well as its radar station, on the territory of the occupied peninsula.
