Rozetka Lost Billions Due to Russia’s Attack: Chechotkin Reveals the Extent of the Losses

7 August 03:50

The Ukrainian marketplace Rozetka has suffered its largest direct losses in its entire history due to Russian strikes on its warehouse and logistics infrastructure. The company preliminarily estimates the losses at billions of hryvnias, although the final tally is still underway.

This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a statement by Rozetka co-founder Vladislav Chechotkin.

Rozetka’s losses have reached billions of hryvnias

According to Chechotkin, the company has not yet completed its assessment of the consequences of the Russian attacks, but it is already clear that the losses are record-breaking.

“Direct losses amount to billions of hryvnias. We haven’t calculated the exact figure yet, but it’s a very, very large amount. These are the largest losses in our history,” said Rozetka’s co-founder.

Thus, the attack has been the most devastating for the company since the start of the full-scale war.

Russia destroyed one of Rozetka’s main logistics centers

During a massive attack on August 5, a Russian missile struck Rozetka’s distribution logistics complex in Brovary, Kyiv Oblast.

This facility had been in operation since 2017 and was one of the company’s largest and most automated logistics centers.

According to Rozetka, more than 100,000 orders passed through the complex every day.

The destruction of this hub means not only the loss of warehouse space and goods but also the urgent need to restructure a significant portion of the company’s logistics operations.

Chechotkin Outlined What Kind of Assistance Businesses Need

Following the widespread destruction, Rozetka’s co-founder listed several measures that, in his opinion, the government could implement to support businesses affected by Russian attacks.

These include:

  • expanding war risk insurance programs;
  • increasing the maximum coverage amounts for such insurance;
  • temporary tax breaks for businesses during the recovery period;
  • accessible preferential loans for business reconstruction.

Separately, Chechotkin raised the issue of protecting large logistics facilities from airstrikes.

Russian strikes have become a systemic problem for Ukrainian retail

The attack on Rozetka occurred amid a series of Russian strikes on logistics and retail infrastructure.

In recent days, facilities belonging to Nova Poshta, Epicenter, NOVUS, Silpo, INTERTOP, Bosch, JTI, and a number of Ukrainian manufacturers have been damaged or destroyed.

Therefore, for large retail chains, the issues of backup warehouses, the decentralization of inventory, and the rapid restoration of logistics are becoming increasingly critical.
