Samsung plans to release Android laptops featuring the Galaxy AI system
3 May 18:12
Samsung is considering launching laptops running on the Android 17 operating system. The company is developing three devices at once, targeting different price segments—from entry-level to premium, according to SamMobile, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
Rumor has it that the flagship version will stand out with a slim body and modern design, allowing the company to strengthen its position in the ultraportable category. All models will run on the proprietary One UI 9 interface, which is already used across the brand’s ecosystem.
The transition to Android in the laptop segment could be part of a strategy to unify the user experience. Currently, One UI is used on Samsung smartphones, tablets, devices, and TVs, and its expansion to PCs will enhance integration between devices.

The new models are expected to support Samsung’s proprietary Galaxy AI features, as well as an updated version of Samsung DeX mode, which enables a PC-like interface. This should simplify interaction between laptops and other Galaxy devices, including data transfer and seamless workflow scenarios.
Currently, Samsung is already active in the ChromeOS-based laptop segment, but in the future, it may transition to the new Android-based Aluminium OS platform being developed by Google. The timing of the official announcement of the devices has not been disclosed. According to preliminary information, Android 17 and an updated version of ChromeOS may be unveiled at the Google I/O 2026 conference in late May.
