On the morning of July 12, Ukrainian forces attacked the Samara Region. The target was the Syzran Oil Refinery, owned by Rosneft, according to the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces.

The strike caused a massive fire at the facility. The extent of the damage is being assessed. Numerous plumes of black smoke are visible rising from the refinery. Vyacheslav Fedoryshchev, the region’s governor, confirmed the attack on the industrial facility. According to him, private homes and apartment buildings were also damaged. As a result, one man was killed, and three other people, including a child, were hospitalized with injuries, Fedoryshchev added.

The Syzran Oil Refinery, with an annual capacity of 8.5 metric tons, produces gasoline, diesel fuel, and fuel oil, and is one of the largest oil refineries in the Samara Region. Previously, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked it on May 21, after which it ceased operations. Incidentally, this is the 12th time the Syzran Oil Refinery has been struck.

In addition, SBS Commander Robert Brovdi (“Madyar”) reported that four ferries and 10 tankers belonging to the Russian shadow fleet were struck overnight. He promised to provide details later. Yuri Slyusar, governor of the Rostov Region, reported that Ukrainian drones struck a tanker entering the Azov-Black Sea Canal, but, according to him, there was no oil spill.
