Why This Is Important for Business
For many companies, stable connectivity is not just a convenience, but a prerequisite for operations. This is especially true for manufacturing, logistics, retail, healthcare, education, and government services.
Satellite internet can serve as a backup or primary communication channel in areas where the regular network is unstable or unavailable.
Starlink can help businesses:
- maintain operations during emergencies;
- have a backup internet connection;
- operate in regions with challenging infrastructure;
- ensure connectivity at production sites;
- reduce the risk of downtime due to network outages.
Government agencies will also be able to use Starlink
Kyivstar separately notes that the service will also be available to government agencies.
This is important for schools, universities, hospitals, and clinics, which must maintain access to digital services even during crises.
In healthcare, a stable internet connection is essential for electronic health records, telemedicine, data exchange, and the operation of internal systems. In education, it is needed for distance learning, electronic grade books, and communication with students and teachers.
What is Starlink
Starlink is a satellite network that provides broadband internet access via thousands of satellites in low Earth orbit.
The advantage of this technology is that connectivity can be established even in areas where it is difficult or impossible to quickly deploy ground-based infrastructure.
For Ukraine, Starlink is of particular importance due to the full-scale war, regular attacks on energy and telecommunications infrastructure, and the need for backup communication channels.
