Ukrainian national team midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi will leave Italian club Genoa at the end of the 2025/26 season. Genoa head coach Daniele De Rossi confirmed that the club is preparing to part ways with the 33-year-old Ukrainian, whose contract is coming to an end, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
What Genoa’s coach said
Genoa head coach Daniele De Rossi, commenting on the team’s goals for the end of the season, specifically mentioned Ruslan Malinovskyi. According to him, the club will give the Ukrainian footballer the opportunity to say goodbye to the fans.
“We need to prepare for the matches and find the right, healthy motivation. We’ll let Malinovskyi say goodbye to the fans and give more playing time to those who haven’t played as much. We must respect our work,” said De Rossi.
These words effectively confirm that the Ukrainian will not remain at Genoa after his current contract expires.
When does Malinovskyi’s contract end?
Ruslan Malinovskyi’s contract with Genoa runs until the end of June 2026. After that, the player can become a free agent and move to another club without compensation for Genoa.
The Ukrainian midfielder has been playing for Genoa since 2023, having moved there after a stint with Marseille in France.
The most notable phase of his career in Italy was previously with Atalanta, where Malinovskyi became one of Serie A’s standout players.

Where could Malinovskyi go next?
The Turkish club Trabzonspor is considered the most likely destination for Ruslan Malinovskyi to continue his career.
The Genoa Oggi portal revealed details of the player’s salary with his new team. The 33-year-old Ukrainian national team player has been offered a three-year contract in Turkey, under which he is set to earn 1.2 million euros per season.
However, Malinovskyi’s salary will be lower, as he currently earns €1.6 million at Genoa.
Earlier, the president of the Turkish club, Ertugrul Dogan, stated that the Ukrainian’s transfer is effectively in its final stages.
For the Turkish club, Malinovskyi’s transfer could be a significant boost to the midfield, as the Ukrainian has extensive experience playing in Serie A, European competitions, and for the Ukrainian national team.
Malinovskyi’s statistics for the 2025/26 season
This season, Ruslan Malinovskyi has remained a key player for Genoa. According to sports media reports, he has played 34 matches across all competitions, scoring 6 goals and providing 3 assists.
This is quite an impressive tally for a central midfielder, especially given Malinovskyi’s role in building attacks and taking set pieces.
He has been a member of the Ukrainian national team since 2015, scoring a total of ten goals and providing nine assists in 70 matches.
