Promised to ensure the “inviolability of borders”: Putin accused the West of trying to “get rid of” Russia

The West is testing Russia’s limits and wants to “get rid of” it, but it won’t succeed, said dictator Vladimir Putin. According to him, the country “is confidently resisting all attempts to curb its development.” “We have sufficient strength, resources, and political will. No one should have any doubts about this,” he said at the United Russia party congress, according to "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Russian propaganda media.

Against the backdrop of the war with Ukraine, now in its fifth year, Putin acknowledged that Russia is going through a “difficult phase,” but added that it has “taught us a lot” and allowed the country to grasp the very essence of what it means to be a citizen of the Russian Federation. The dictator assured that the government is aware of the problems, including attacks on infrastructure, and is responding to them. He promised to ensure the security of the country, its citizens, and “the inviolability of Russia’s borders for the long term.”

Putin also stated that “Russia can only be a strong, independent state—or there will be no Russia at all.” According to him, as soon as the country shows weakness, “it is immediately disregarded.” Against this backdrop, the president called on the people to unite, noting that it is precisely “internal unity”—which Russia’s opponents are trying to “undermine, destroy, and call into question”—that has always been the source of the country’s strength.

On June 12, Putin stated that Russia is practically alone in standing up to the entire collective West, represented by NATO. He also blamed the North Atlantic Alliance for the war in Ukraine, noting that Finland and Sweden joined the alliance after 2022 solely to get “a piece of the pie” in the event of Russia’s defeat.
