Koretsky instructed officials to expedite the sale of Sense Bank
21 August 13:34
Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky stated that the Ministry of Finance must expedite the sale of the state-owned Sense Bank. However, the Ministry of Finance, in conjunction with the National Bank, must first resolve the issues that have arisen surrounding the financial institution.
Koretskyi made this statement during a session of the Verkhovna Rada, commenting on the situation surrounding Sense Bank following the publication of materials by anti-corruption agencies, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to the prime minister, the Ministry of Finance has received a clear directive to expedite the sale of the state-owned bank.
However, before doing so, the Ministry of Finance, together with the National Bank, must resolve all outstanding issues related to the financial institution.
“Regarding Sense Bank, there is a clear instruction for the Ministry of Finance to expedite the sale of the bank. Before that, the Ministry of Finance, together with the National Bank, must resolve all the accumulated issues,” Koretskyi stated.

What Will Happen to “Naftogaz”
Koretsky also commented on upcoming personnel changes at “Naftogaz.” According to him, the company’s new head should be selected through a transparent competition.
The Prime Minister noted that the best option would be to appoint a new head after the heating season ends, in order to ensure stability during the current period.
“A transparent competition must be announced. Ideally, the new head should take office after the heating season ends to ensure a stable transition through the current period,” the prime minister concluded.
As a reminder, as Koretsky previously reported, Ukraine’s Ministry of Finance has been instructed to step up preparations for the sale of the nationalized Sense Bank, with the proceeds from the sale planned to be used to fund the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Sense Bank in the “Forest Gump” Case
According to investigators, the group exposed during Operation “Forrest Gump” may have laundered approximately 150 million hryvnias in cash through Sense Bank. The money was allegedly brought into official circulation to be used as bail for one of the defendants in another anti-corruption case—the “Midas” case.
The NABU claims that the following could have been used to carry out the transactions:
- accounts of affiliated companies;
- the infrastructure of a state-owned bank;
- the official authority of certain officials;
- prearranged financial transactions.
According to NABU detective Mykhailo Romaniuk, the organizers of the scheme allegedly gained de facto control over Sense Bank, which allowed them to use the financial institution for their own benefit.
