Trump calls for Iran nuclear deal after Israeli strikes

13 June 2025 17:20

Former US President Donald Trump has called on Iran to immediately conclude a new nuclear deal to avoid further casualties and destruction. He stated this in a post on social media, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

“I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal. I told them, ‘Just do it’. But despite trying and coming close to an agreement, they could not reach it,” Trump wrote.

He also emphasized that the United States has a powerful military arsenal, which is actively used by Israel. According to him, “Israel already has a lot of American weapons, and there will be more.”

The former president added that some hardliners in Iran who refused to compromise have already been killed and warned: “It’s only going to get worse.”

“There is still time to stop this slaughter. The next attacks that are already planned will be much more brutal. Iran must make a deal before it’s too late to save what’s left of the once great Iranian empire,” Trump urged.

Trump said he was informed of the planned Israeli strikes before they took place.

On the night of June 13, 2025, Israel launched large-scale air strikes against Iran – more than 200 aircraft hit about 100 targets, including nuclear centers (Natanz, Isfahan) and military bases in Tehran.

Among the dead were high-ranking generals (Chief of the General Staff Bagheri, Commander of the Guard Corps Salami) and at least six nuclear scientists.

Israel has declared a state of emergency, closed its airspace, mobilized reservists and activated an alarm throughout the country.

The strike is being positioned by the Netanyahu government as a preemptive attempt to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

Iran’s response

Iran responded by launching more than 100 drones into Israel – Israel claims most were shot down.

The Iranian government called the Israeli strikes a “declaration of war” and promised a “severe response”.

Iran has also signaled the opening of a new enrichment facility, and the IAEA has recorded Iran’s non-compliance with its nuclear obligations.

Possible scenarios for further escalation

Iran may strike at strategic oil facilities or block the Strait of Hormuz.

Involvement of proxy groups (Hezbollah, Houthis, Iraqi forces) could lead to a multi-front conflict.

The United States is currently involved only at the level of support: it provides intelligence and some logistics, and does not take an active role in the strikes. But they warn Iran of the consequences.

Economic consequences

Oil prices soared from 6% to 14%, and the US and European stock markets suffered.

There are already supply disruptions, including fears of a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

International reaction

The UN and the West call for restraint, the UN Secretary General calls for maximum restraint.

The United States warns Iran that aggression will be met with retaliation and says it is not physically involved in the strikes.

Ukraine strongly condemned Iran’s attacks on Israel and called on all parties to prevent a large-scale conflict in the region.

This is Israel’s largest direct strike against Iran since the Iran-Iraq war, reflecting the seriousness of the nuclear threat that Israel sees

Both states declare their readiness to continue the conflict.

The biggest threat is the launch of a multi-front winged war with the use of proxy forces and attacks on energy infrastructure.

This conflict is a critical moment in the security architecture of the Middle East and risks turning into a long-term regional crisis. If you want, I can also analyze possible ways of a diplomatic solution or influence on the energy market.
