Heat of up to 37 degrees will sweep across Ukraine: a meteorologist has announced the date of the sharp temperature rise
26 June 04:51
After a period of relatively comfortable summer weather, hot air from Western Europe will begin to flow into Ukraine. Starting Friday, June 26, temperatures will gradually rise, with the most significant increase in heat expected over the weekend. This was reported by meteorologist Natalka Didenko, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
According to meteorologist Natalka Didenko’s forecast, on Sunday, June 28, temperatures in many regions could reach 32–37 degrees, and in some places even higher.
The western regions will be the first to feel the heat wave. Meanwhile, brief showers and thunderstorms are still possible in the east.
“Short-lived rains and thunderstorms will occur in the eastern regions, as well as in some parts of Khmelnytskyi, Vinnytsia, and Zhytomyr regions. Most of Ukraine will experience dry weather,” Didenko noted.
When will the heat intensify sharply in Ukraine?
Temperatures will begin to rise as early as Friday, June 26.
The hottest conditions on that day will be in the western part of the country, where temperatures are expected to range from 28 to 34 degrees.
In the south, temperatures will be around 30 degrees, while in most central, northern, and eastern regions, temperatures will reach 24–29 degrees.
On Saturday, the heat will continue to intensify in the west. In Zakarpattia, temperatures may reach 35–37 degrees in some places.
The forecaster predicts the most significant rise in temperatures for Sunday, June 28.
Where temperatures are expected to reach up to 37 degrees
According to Natalka Didenko’s forecast, on Sunday, hot air will spread from the western regions to most of Ukraine.
In many regions, temperatures are expected to be:
- at night — around 17–23 degrees;
- during the day — mostly 32–37 degrees;
- in some places — even higher temperatures.
“The heat will intensify as early as this weekend, reaching us from western Europe. The western regions of Ukraine will feel it the most first, and by Sunday, thermometers will show 32–37 degrees almost everywhere, and even higher in some places,” she warned.
The heat will be most intense initially in Zakarpattia, Prykarpattia, and other western regions.
In the coming days, high temperatures may spread to the central, northern, and southern regions.
At the same time, actual readings will vary depending on the movement of atmospheric fronts, cloud cover, and local precipitation.
What will the weather be like on June 26?
On Friday, most of Ukraine will experience dry weather.
Short-lived rains and thunderstorms are possible:
- in the eastern regions;
- in Khmelnytskyi Oblast;
- in Vinnytsia Oblast;
- in Zhytomyr Oblast.
Precipitation will be localized, so weather conditions may vary significantly even within a single region.
Daytime temperatures will be:
- in the west — 28…34 degrees;
- in the south — around 30 degrees;
- in most other regions — 24–29 degrees.
Weather in Kyiv
No significant precipitation is forecast for Kyiv on June 26.
During the day, the air temperature will be approximately 26–28 degrees. On Saturday, it may rise to 29 degrees.
The heat will be most intense in the capital on Sunday and early next week. Temperatures may exceed 30 degrees.
Where the heat wave will come from
A hot air mass will move into Ukraine from western Europe.
A number of European countries have experienced abnormally high temperatures for an extended period. Now, some of this hot air will gradually spread eastward.
That is why the western regions of Ukraine will be the first to feel the heat, and residents of other regions will experience the warming later.
At the same time, in the east and northeast, the rise in temperature may occur more slowly due to the influence of atmospheric fronts and local rains.
