The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine’s Temporary Investigative Commission on the Investigation of Possible Corruption or Corruption-Related Offenses in Law Enforcement Agencies, Courts, and Judicial Authorities plans to continue its work and, in May, move on to examining the activities of the NABU and the SAPO, reports "Komersant Ukrainian", citing a brief comment by MP Serhiy Vlasenko.
On the YouTube channel “Kommersant Ukrainian,” the politician previously announced that the Verkhovna Rada’s temporary investigative commission, which he chairs, would examine the work of NABU and SAPO.
“In six months of work, we have not held a single meeting with representatives of NABU or SAPO. We have not considered issues related to the activities of NABU or SAPO. We plan to do so because no one will be beyond parliamentary oversight. These bodies must be independent, but the two words ‘independence’ and ‘lack of oversight’ are two different words with different meanings,” the MP noted.
In response to a follow-up question on this matter, Serhiy Vlasneko stated that the Temporary Investigation Commission plans to begin this work in May.
As a reminder, Serhiy Vlasenko previously stated that anti-corruption reform cannot be called successful today, as corruption in Ukraine has not decreased.
We also recall that as of the end of last year, according to KIIS data, 67% of Ukrainians believed that the level of corruption had increased since 2022, while the share of those who considered Ukraine “hopelessly corrupt” had decreased slightly.
