Tax evasion worth millions: a developer will be brought to court in Odesa

The BES detectives in Odesa region have completed a pre-trial investigation against a seaside developer who evaded taxes. The case has been sent to court. This was reported by the BES press service, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
As previously reported, the officials of the construction company did not reflect in the tax reports on value added tax the work performed by order of another company, thus failing to pay UAH 4.5 million in taxes.
At the end of November, the BES detectives secured reimbursement to the state budget of taxes that were not paid during the construction of apartments on the Black Sea coast. The company’s director was served a notice of suspicion.
The investigation found that the construction company’s officials failed to declare in their VAT returns the work performed on behalf of another company.
This resulted in concealment of real income and understatement of the amount of income tax.
In the course of the pre-trial investigation conducted under Part 3 of Article 212 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“Tax and Duty Evasion”), the company fully reimbursed the losses incurred.
