Ukrzaliznytsia is launching a new summer schedule: adding 12 trains and changing routes
10 June 06:41
Ukrzaliznytsia is introducing a new summer schedule, which will take effect on June 28, 2026. Ahead of the vacation season, the carrier has added 12 new routes, sped up certain trains, extended a number of routes to mountainous regions, and switched some trains to a daily schedule. This was reported by the Ukrzaliznytsia press service, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
Ticket sales for new and updated routes began on June 9, but tickets will be added to the system gradually, so some trains will become available for purchase over the next few days.
What’s changing in Ukrzaliznytsia’s summer schedule
The company stated that for the new season, they have managed to:
- add 12 new routes;
- speed up three trains;
- extend four routes to mountainous destinations;
- convert eight trains that previously ran every other day to daily service.
In this way, Ukrzaliznytsia is attempting to increase the number of seats on the most popular summer routes, primarily to the Carpathians, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, and the southern regions.
The flagship Kharkiv–Rakhiv train will become the longest in Ukraine
One of the main changes concerns the flagship train No. 1/2 “Yednist.” Its route is being extended to Rakhiv.
Starting June 29, the train will run on the Kharkiv–Rakhiv route instead of the previous Kharkiv–Vorokhta route.
Ukrzaliznytsia emphasizes that this will be the longest route for a flagship train in Ukraine—1,325 km. The train will include, in particular, a women’s car and a new children’s car.
The Kyiv–Rakhiv train will run daily
Train No. 55/56 Kyiv–Rakhiv will now run daily, rather than every other day as before.
This means an increase in the number of seats for passengers traveling in the direction of:
- Vinnytsia;
- Khmelnytskyi;
- Ternopil;
- Ivano-Frankivsk;
- Yaremche;
- Tatariv;
- Vorokhta;
- Yasinya;
- Kvasiv;
- Rakhiv.
The decision is intended to facilitate summer travel to the Carpathians and relieve congestion on the season’s most popular routes.
The “Sakura” from Kyiv to Uzhhorod will run faster
Ukrzaliznytsia is also changing the schedule for the “Sakura” train, which connects Kyiv and Uzhhorod. Under the new schedule, it will be faster in both directions.
The train will depart from Kyiv at 11:28 p.m. instead of 5:41 p.m., and in the opposite direction, it will arrive in the capital at 6:09 a.m. instead of 9:58 a.m.
The train will arrive in Khmelnytskyi before midnight.
Two Kharkiv–Uzhhorod routes are changing their schedule
Train No. 113/114 Kharkiv–Uzhhorod will run every other day. The company believes this will provide more convenient service from Kharkiv and Poltava to Rivne, Lutsk, and Zakarpattia.
At the same time, another service on the same route—No. 45/46 Kharkiv–Uzhhorod—will change its route and pass through Podillia. Thanks to this, residents of Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, and Ternopil will be able to reach Zakarpattia more conveniently.
Two more routes are being extended to Yasinya
Ukrzaliznytsia is extending two more trains to Yasinya Station:
- No. 137/138 Kyiv–Yasinya instead of Kyiv–Ivano-Frankivsk;
- No. 142/141 Chernihiv — Yasinya instead of Chernihiv — Ivano-Frankivsk.
This further strengthens summer service to the mountainous regions of the Carpathians, which remain among the most popular destinations for tourists during the season.
What new trains is Ukrzaliznytsia adding?
In the new schedule, Ukrzaliznytsia has also included several new or updated routes, formed, in particular, using new railcars. Among them:
Night Express No. 83/84 Dnipro–Mukachevo;
Daytime Train No. 153/154 Dnipro–Odesa;
Train No. 157/158 Kyiv–Ivano-Frankivsk;
Train No. 210/209 Mykolaiv–Ivano-Frankivsk (every other day);
Train No. 229/230 Kharkiv–Kremenchuk, which will begin running on June 29.
All of this is intended to strengthen domestic connections between major cities and tourist regions during the summer season.
When ticket sales begin
Although the new schedule takes effect on June 28, ticket sales will begin on June 9. At the same time, Ukrzaliznytsia has warned that tickets for various routes will go on sale gradually, so some trains may appear in the system only within one or two days.
Why is Ukrzaliznytsia changing the schedule right now?
The company noted that the number of railcars has not increased, but over the past few months, it has managed to redistribute the existing rolling stock as efficiently as possible.
According to Ukrzaliznytsia, this is precisely what made it possible to create a new summer schedule with more trains and more convenient routes.
