Ukraine will receive $1200 million in aid from the US: what will be included in this package

The United States is preparing a new military aid package for Ukraine. Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said this during a visit to Kyiv on 21 October, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
“My country has provided more than $58 billion in security assistance to Ukraine since February 2022. We have provided two Patriot batteries and dozens of other air defence systems. We have provided 24 Himars systems, thousands of armoured vehicles and drones, millions of artillery shells and other munitions,” Lloyd Austin said.
In addition, he advised everyone who thinks that American assistance is too expensive to imagine what would happen if America retreated.
“In the face of this aggression, the price of principles is always much less than the price of surrender,” the Pentagon chief said.
What is included in the new aid package for Ukraine
According to Lloyd Austin, Ukraine can expect an aid package of $400 million. This package includes supplies of ammunition, military equipment and weapons for the Ukrainian military.
The details of what the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive from the United States were written on her page on the social network X by American journalist Lara Seligman, who came to the Ukrainian capital with the head of the US Defence Ministry.
According to her, the new military aid package for Ukraine will include
- ammunition for HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems,
- 155-mm and 105-mm artillery ammunition,
- 60-mm, 81-mm and 122-mm mortar systems and ammunition,
- tOW anti-tank missiles, Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems,
- m113 armoured personnel carriers,
- satellite communications equipment,
- small arms and ammunition;
- grenades and training equipment, equipment and ammunition for demolition works;
- equipment for the protection of critical infrastructure,
- spare parts, auxiliary equipment, services, training and transportation.
New US aid package for the Ukrainian Armed Forces: Ukraine’s reaction
The Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov has already responded to the allocation of aid to the Ukrainian military.
“I would like to thank you for the new aid package. It includes armoured vehicles, very important ammunition and air defence equipment, which is very important before the start of the winter period, as Russia continues to try to destroy Ukraine’s energy sector,” Umerov said.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy alsocommented on the new aid package.
“We are grateful to President Biden, both parties in the US Congress and the American people for all their support since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Together with all our allies, we are working to ensure victory and peace for Ukraine and all peace-loving peoples,” the President of Ukraine said.
Zelenskyy added that he and Lloyd Austin discussed the most important defence priorities, including Ukraine’s air defence capabilities, preparations for the winter period and the expansion of the use of long-range weapons against Russian military targets. In addition, the politicians focused on efforts to increase production of attack drones, cruise missiles, artillery shells, and air defence systems.
Additional aid package for Ukraine from America: what is known about it
On the evening of 21 October, it became known that the United States is also preparing a separate aid package for the production of drones in Ukraine. This was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his evening video address.
“Another separate package is being prepared – funding for the production of Ukrainian drones, $800 million. Ukraine is grateful for this support. We need to ensure that despite any political threats in the world, Ukraine can consistently defend its sovereignty and independence. This will definitely happen,” Zelenskyy said.
