The Netherlands will provide Ukraine with 178 million euros to prepare for winter and develop distributed generation, and is also preparing to transfer decommissioned gas turbines to the country as early as this fall. This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal after signing the Roadmap for Cooperation between Ukraine and the Netherlands in the Energy Sector with Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Schurd Schurdma on the sidelines of URC 2026 in Gdańsk, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

“This primarily involves coordinating efforts to prepare Ukraine for the 2026/2027 heating season, particularly regarding the search for and accelerated procurement of critically important equipment,” he wrote.

According to Shmyhal, the parties will work together to assess and procure equipment from decommissioned power plants in the Netherlands to build reserves and restore damaged energy facilities in Ukraine.

Another area of cooperation is the development of distributed generation, involving Dutch technologies and the private sector to implement relevant projects.

“We have already provided our partners with a list of priority needs and are counting on the supply of cogeneration units and other equipment to strengthen the resilience of the power grid,” the First Deputy Prime Minister said.

Currently, the Netherlands’ total contribution to the Ukrainian Energy Support Fund already exceeds 100 million euros.
