Ukraine Has Become One of the Global Drivers of Marine Drone Development — Pletenchuk

Ukraine is one of the world’s leaders and driving forces behind the development of unmanned maritime systems, and both allies and adversaries are studying Ukraine’s experience with maritime drones. Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, made this statement in a comment to “Ukrinform,” as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

“In fact, Ukraine is a global driver of the development of unmanned maritime systems,” he said.

According to Pletenchuk, the development and deployment of maritime drones is being carried out not only by the Navy but also by other components of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“These include the Security Service of Ukraine, the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Special Operations Forces, and the Unmanned Systems Forces,” the spokesperson noted.

At the same time, he emphasized that unmanned systems are just one of the tools of modern naval warfare.

“Drones are just one means of inflicting damage, one of the tools. They cannot be a panacea for all challenges,” Pletenchuk emphasized.

The spokesperson added that Ukraine’s partners are actively interested in Ukraine’s experience in conducting modern naval warfare.

“Our partners are very interested in our experience—from tactical decisions to technological solutions, such as the Delta situational awareness system,” he said.
