Ukraine opens the market for Saudi investors – offers for $500 million

A Ukrainian government delegation has begun a working visit to Saudi Arabia with a meeting with nearly a hundred local entrepreneurs. This was announced by First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
During the meeting, the Ukrainian delegation presented investment projects in key areas:
- Energy
- Agriculture
- Infrastructure
- Public-private partnership.
In total, projects and privatization opportunities totaling $500 million were proposed.
“Strengthening economic ties means strengthening our nations, our regions, and global security,” Svyrydenko emphasized.
Preparations for Zelenskyy’s visit and new economic agreements
The visit to Saudi Arabia also has a strategic goal: preparing for the visit of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Important economic agreements are expected to be signed with countries in the region, which will help attract new investments to Ukraine.
Saudi Arabia supports Ukraine economically
Saudi Arabia is one of Ukraine’s key partners. It has already allocated $500 million to support Ukraine’s recovery, providing not only humanitarian but also economic assistance.
In particular, FAS Energy is investing in Ukraine’s renewable energy sector, and in September 2023, SALIC acquired a 12.6% stake in MHP, one of the country’s largest agricultural producers.
“I am grateful to the companies that show leadership and prove that it is possible and necessary to invest in Ukraine right now,” Svyrydenko said.
Prospects for new investments
Ukraine has great prospects for attracting investments from the Middle East. Saudi entrepreneurs are most interested in:
- Infrastructure projects
- Energy
- Agricultural technologies
- Fertilizer production.
Thanks to joint efforts, Ukraine’s exports to Saudi Arabia increased from $291 million in 2023 to $368 million in 2024. This trend is expected to continue, and cooperation between the two countries will only intensify.
