Since it began operating, more than 8,000 ships have used the Ukrainian grain corridor, allowing Ukraine to return to pre-war export volumes for certain types of products. Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian Navy, made this statement in a comment to “Ukrinform,” as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
“In fact, this (grain—ed.) corridor has been operating for more than 2.5 years, and more than 8,000 ships have used it,” he said.
According to Pletenchuk, ensuring the functioning of the grain corridor is one of the key achievements of the Ukrainian Navy.
“For Ukraine, maritime exports are the main channel. Having an open maritime corridor that is independent of land borders is about independence and the ability to pursue our own economic foreign policy,” the spokesperson emphasized.
He stressed that it was precisely thanks to the work of the Navy and other components of the Defense Forces that the safe passage of civilian vessels was ensured.
“For some types of export products, Ukraine has even managed to return to pre-war levels,” Pletenchuk noted.
