12 June 04:00

The beach season has officially begun along part of the Odessa coastline. The first 13 beach areas, which have been inspected and deemed safe for public use, have been opened to visitors. This was announced by Oleg Kipper, head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

According to him, he signed a joint order with the command of the “Odessa” operational-tactical group regarding public access to recreational areas along the coast.

The first beaches for swimming have opened in Odesa

According to Oleg Kipper, the decision to open the beaches was made after the relevant areas were inspected by a special commission of the city military administration.

“Based on the findings of the Special Commission of the City Military Administration, which inspected the areas, the first 13 beach zones have been deemed to meet the established safety requirements,” Kipper noted.

This applies only to those locations that meet the necessary conditions for people’s safety.

The list of such zones may be expanded in the future.

Which beaches have opened in Odesa

Among the locations where recreation and swimming are officially permitted are:

  • “Zolotyi Bereg” Beach;
  • “Kurortny” Beach;

What was checked before the beaches opened

Before opening, each area was inspected for compliance with safety requirements. Specifically, this included the availability of shelters, the organization of lifeguard stations, and the provision of amenities for visitors.

The security situation along the coast and the ability to respond quickly in the event of an air raid alert or other threats were also taken into account.

Oleg Kipper stated that the list of safe recreation areas is not final. New beaches may open gradually after they pass the necessary inspections.

“The list of safe areas for recreation may be expanded after passing the relevant inspections. Enjoy your vacation and pay attention to air raid alerts and recommendations from rescue services,” added the head of the Odesa Regional State Administration.

Vacationers are urged not to ignore air raid alerts

Despite the reopening of some beaches, security risks persist in the Odesa region due to the war. Therefore, residents and visitors are urged to closely monitor air raid sirens and follow the recommendations of rescue workers.

You should only relax on officially open beaches where there are lifeguard stations and designated safe zones. Swimming in uninspected or closed areas can be dangerous.
