Bronetsky: The public is still waiting for answers regarding the high-profile “Midas” case
11 June 20:16
Following high-profile statements by anti-corruption authorities last November, the public expected further investigations and new legal proceedings, but these have not materialized in full.
This was stated on the YouTube channel "Komersant Ukrainian" by Stanislav Bronevitsky, a former prosecutor with the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and a lawyer.
“If our law enforcement agencies, NABU and SAPO, said ‘A’ last November, then the whole society, after such a nerve-wracking and emotional upheaval, was waiting for ‘B,’ because that’s logical, but there is no ‘B,’” he noted.
Separately, he criticized the lack of response from law enforcement agencies to the leak of investigative materials in the “Midas” case via former SAPO Deputy Head Andriy Sinyuk.

“Yet the head of the SAPO (Oleksandr Klymenko, — ed.), when appearing before the Temporary Investigation Commission, says that we have not established who this person is. Although he knows for certain and understands who this person is, because he saw these materials and read them. You don’t need to be a legal expert to piece together the available, concrete facts into a logical sequence and make the appropriate procedural decision,” he emphasized.
What is Operation Midas?
Operation “Midas” is a large-scale investigation by NABU and the SAPO into possible corruption in the energy sector. According to anti-corruption agencies and the media, the case involves possible kickbacks in government contracts related to Energoatom.
In November 2024, NABU and the SAP reported on a large-scale operation and the detention of suspects. The case also involved former officials, businessmen, and individuals associated with the energy sector.
