There are no certified buses with sleeping accommodations in Ukraine: Ukrainians have been warned of the danger
26 July 19:14
There are no certified buses in Ukraine equipped with sleeping berths for passengers, and traveling on such routes can be dangerous. The State Service for Transport Safety reported this on Telegram, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“Advertisements for routes with ‘sleeping berths’ for passengers are appearing more and more frequently. For an additional fee, long-distance and international buses offer passengers the chance to settle comfortably into a converted seat—and the journey will no longer be so difficult. Ukrtransbezpeka warns: such offers pose a direct threat to the lives and safety of passengers,” the statement reads.
The agency noted that all bus transportation must be carried out using certified vehicles; the design of the buses must meet safety requirements, and they must be equipped with the necessary active and passive safety features (certified passenger seats and seat belts). However, there are no certified buses in Ukraine equipped with sleeping berths for passengers.
“Sleeping berths” installed without authorization—without properly approved modifications and certification—are illegal and dangerous. In the event of sudden braking or a maneuver on the road, a traffic accident, or a bus rollover, passengers who are lying down without safety features provided for by the vehicle’s design face a significantly higher risk of injury or death.
Ukrtransbezpeka urges carriers not to engage in dangerous experiments with vehicle design. Business entities providing transportation services are required to comply with legal requirements regarding state registration and the possession of the necessary permits and licenses.
